In January 2019, construction and technical inspection of the first section from the modernization of the Sava river dikes project – at the Klakar-Ruščića section covering the length of 5100 meters – was completed. The completion of this section was the final part between the western lateral channel of Biđ-Bosutsko polje and the Glogovice channel which provides protection for 2911 inhabitants against the harmful effects of water.
The modernization of the Sava river dikes project along the total section of 236 km from Račinovci to Nova Gradiška includes plans for implementing emergency measures, such as the construction of a berm whose function is to provide access to the river dikes along the entire section and have a positive effect on the stability of the river dikes’ footing. Implementation of these measures is a very effective first step in the final solution for a flood protection system.
