Kopački Rit–Topographic Survey Report
Due to a clear trend of decreasing wetland and aquatic areas in the central zone of the Kopački Rit Nature Park during periods of low water levels of the Drava and Danube Rivers, the preparation of a multi-disciplinary Study on restoration of water and water-dependent ecosystems Naturavita has been launched. Under the project, VPB carried out field works in order to develop a 3Delevationmodel of the Park and to identify the thickness of the silt deposits on the bottom of the main channels through which the water from the Danube and Drava reaches the Park. In order to obtain high-quality results, four different data collection methods were used:
– A bathymetric method (observing depth by profiles);
– A psamological method (observing the stratification of subaqueous soil);
– A LIDAR method (aerial scanning); and
– Photo documentation of the project area.
The data was then verified, with the final result being the 3D elevation model of the Park, which will serve as the basis for water management, future monitoring and regular supervision as well as for the analysis of impacts on the hydromorphological and ecological status.
