Željko Tusić elected as chairman of CCE’s Association for Professional Environmental Protection Activities
Mr Željko Tusić, an adviser to the director of Vodoprivredno-projektni biro d.d., has been elected as chairman of the newly established Association for Professional Environmental Protection Activities of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (CCE), with Mr Dalibor Hatić, the director of the company Oikon, elected as deputy chairman.
Mr Tusić pointed out it was necessary to set up a robust organisational structure for the Association to be able to more firmly refer to administrative bodies, clients and investors.
“We will work on clearly defined responsibilities and tasks. The first thing that we need to insist on is the issue of the status of authorised representatives. It’s not clear what happens when they leave a company – is it the company or the authorised representative that loses the status? Qualification examinations haven’t taken hold in practice, even though they had been foreseen by an ordinance some ten years ago, with this being another issue for which we are still trying to find an adequate solution,” said Mr Tusić, adding that the Association would actively participate in the drafting of the Ordinance on taking environmental protection qualification examination.
The state in the sector should additionally be improved by the adoption of the code of professional ethics and the preparation of a “White Paper” for the clients of professional services and a digital catalogue of the Association for Professional Environmental Protection Activities.
Another hot topic is a waste management report. “As for the preparation of this report, it is obvious that certain groupings will have to be formed because three types of authorisation are involved here – related to the environment, noise and waste. These specialties are important and they will be a solid backbone for the functioning of the Assocation as a whole,” concluded Mr Tusić.
